It’s always tempting to cling to our preferences, but that will leave us unhappy when those things to which we cling are absent. It’s so much easier to be happy when we engage with whatever is actually present instead of clinging to our favorite. We can still enjoy our preferences when they happen to be present, but we can remain happy even when they are not.
