“Creativity means making something for the soul out of every experience.” ~Thomas Moore
I love the idea of creating something for our souls out of all of our experiences—not just the good ones, not just the painful ones. All of them.
We do this unconsciously all the time with the stories and memories we create and hold onto, but what would it look like to do this more intentionally?
What are you creating for your soul?

“You are not what has happened to you. Only Love has the final word in who you are.” ~James Finley
Never let yourself buy into the illusion that are you just a collection of the things that have happened to you. Those things may shape us, but they are never who we are. Only Love—the Love that loves us totally, completely, unconditionally, and without end—knows who we truly are (and loves us anyway).
“Before I can tell my life what I want to do with it, I must listen to my life telling me who I am.” ~Parker J. Palmer
In this season of so many setting resolutions of how we will change our lives in the coming year, taking time to listen to what our lives are telling us about who we already are seems like a wise starting place.
“Maybe you are searching among the branches, for what only appears in the roots.” ~Rumi
We so often look up, out, away from ourselves for answers that can truly only be found deep within. What answers are you seeking “out there” when you really need to look “in here?”
“Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at anytime and be yourself.” ~Hermann Hesse
How well do you know that sanctuary within yourself? It’s one of your most valuable resources!
