Creating beauty

“Whenever you are creating beauty around you, you are restoring your own soul.” ~Alice Walker

Beauty comes in many forms—from music to visual art to the written word to a well-cooked meal to a kind word or deed.

What kind of beauty will you create today? In offering that beauty to the world, you will find that you are also restoring your own soul.

Soul calls us to ordinary life

“Soul calls us to ground ourselves in the blood, sweat, and tears of ordinary life. Rather than rising above these things, it invites us to find life and meaning in the midst of them.” ~David G. Brenner

So many think of spirituality as something that is opposed to ordinary life that causes us to transcend the everyday trials, challenges, and monotony we face. But our soul is not calling us away from ordinary life, but deeper into it.

Soul wants us to enter ordinary life fully and completely so that we find richer life and meaning in the very midst of our everyday, ordinary lives.

Creating change using your inner dragon

Dragons facing each other on a rooftop

“To change, a person must face the dragon of his appetites with another dragon, the life-energy of the soul.” ~Rumi

The life-energy of your soul is the dragon that is able to conquer the dragon of your patterns, your learned persona, your small self’s complexes, your ego’s machinations. All in order to create real and lasting change.

This makes being able to connect to the soul’s life-energy and to direct it vitally important, but most of us have never given a though to that life-energy. Maybe it’s time to change that.

Do you know how to connect with the life-energy of your soul?
