Growth is a process

Growth is a process

“You do not just wake up and become the butterfly—Growth is a process.” ~Rupi Kaur

No matter how badly I may want to see changes in myself overnight, internal growth and transformation is always a slow process. Just like the caterpillar must do in the chrysalis, real transformation requires letting go of who I was before I can grow into what I’m becoming.

On those days when it feels like my life is crumbling around my ears, I cling to image of the butterfly and remind myself again and again of the importance of letting go, waiting patiently through the hidden and often undefined process of unbecoming and re-becoming in the chrysalis, and being ready to spread my wings once it’s time to emerge.

Just because I feel lost and uncertain doesn’t mean I’m on the wrong track. It usually means that I’m right where I need to be in the process of growth.

How to really live

“The hours when the mind is absorbed by beauty are the only hours when we really live, so that the longer we can stay among these things so much the more is snatched from the inevitable Time.” ~Richard Jeffries

How we rush and busy ourselves with our efforts to amass more and more things. In the process, it’s easy to miss out on the beauty that surrounds, even though absorbing that beauty is what brings us most to life. When and how will you make time to let your mind be absorbed by beauty today?
