“Care about other people’s approval and you become their prisoner.” ~Lao Tzu
It is human nature to care what others think of us.
We want to fit in and to belong, and this fuels our need for others’ approval.
But when we care more about what others think of us than we care about approving of ourselves, we make ourselves prisoners to their opinions.
When we do what we need to do to approve of ourselves, we will give ourselves the freedom to be who we need to be and to find new places to belong.
Where have you made yourself a prisoner by caring about others’ approval? What changes do you need to make to approve of yourself?
