The startling nature of life

“To live is so startling, it leaves but little room for other occupations.” ~Emily Dickinson

I love that this quote comes from a letter written by a woman who spent much of her life in a single room of her house. And she found that life itself was so startling that it took up her whole focus.

How often do we in our busy world pay enough attention to being alive that we even see just how startling it is to live? How many of us live that life fully enough to see it for the wonder that it is?

I wish you moments of pure aliveness this week to re-discover just how startling and amazing it is to be alive!
