When you knock

Door

“When you knock, ask to see God … not any of the self-appointed intermediaries.” ~Thoreau

When your soul longs for the Divine, don’t allow yourself to settle merely for the dogma, traditions, or outward forms of any religion or philosophy. All religion is just a finger pointing toward that which is bigger than we can express or contain. It is important to seek and ask only for the Divine, if that’s what your soul longs for, or you will ever be disappointed.

Likewise, whatever your soul most longs for, be intentional and clear about knocking and asking for that deeper longing, and do not settle for the surface form or culturally acceptable substitute (whatever that may be). And be sure you know the difference. We too often settle for less than we long for before we even ask.

When you knock, ask for what your soul truly longs for. Don’t settle for less in your asking or in what you will accept.
